Olive Grove Lodge and Holiday Park - The Ultimate Backpacking and Camping in New Zealand

Welcome to Olive Grove

Look at these fine samples of Lyn's artwork:

Your hostess, Lyn Simpson, began her artists career aged 15, painting South Island landscapes in oil. In 2000 she started work with acrylic paints, using much larger canvasses and more radical colouring.
Each of these paintings is a true expression of Lyn's self - and the beautiful landscapes here at Olive Grove have inspired her so much that she is unlikely ever to stop or run out of scenery.

Lyn's paintings can for example be found in the large Lounge Hall at Olive Grove, like this magnificent view of the Southern Alps:

Lyn wouldn't tell where the spot is - she doesn't want it spoiled by droves of visitors.
Her big dream is to show her masterpieces in an art gallery one day - and if you had a look at her work you will certainly agree that this dream may come true sooner rather than later.

In her spare time she also likes to restore old furniture. So while staying at Olive Grove you may find beautifully restored chest of drawers, chairs, desks or mirrors in your room which Lyn has worked on and returned to mint condition.

Even the day beds outside the Lodge rooms origin from the sun-room of an ancient NZ manor. They were picked up by Kim, Lyn's husband, at a local resource centre where they were dumped for recycling.
After a lovingly restoration job they are as good as new and a pleasure for the Lodge guests to sit in and catch the afternoon sun.
